Hi, my name is Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi and I'm one of the Royal College of GP's Lifestyle and Physical Activity Champions.

Hi, I'm Dr Callum Leese. I'm a GP ST3 and I'm at the start of my journey, but we're all here to learn.
0:00:23 - Suzy
Hello, I'm Dr Suzy Scarlett. I'm a GP and a GP trainer, based in Edinburgh. I'm a lifestyle medicine physician and I'm here to hopefully learn and also inspire about physical activity and primary care.

Are you a passionate and inspiring sport person, an enthusiastic advocate of physical activity for your staff and patients? Maybe you're ready to be inspired or inspire your fellow GPs. Or maybe you're none of the above, aware that you might feel a bit better if you moved a bit more and you want to find out all about it. Well, this podcast is the one for you.

Do you feel that you need to know more about physical activity and how to promote it in primary care? It's a problem. I've come across a lot in my training and I still don't know where I'm going. So what we've done as a group of enthusiasts, is get experts from across the field to come and talk to us and explain what they know, so that we can know more and you can know more. A podcast by GPs for GPs.

The Royal College of GPs lifestyle and physical activity group have been operating since 2017 with a simple aim to improve the lifestyle and physical activity knowledge and understanding among staff so that we can better equip our patients. This is a podcast looking at physical activity. That's not exercise. It's all about the perspective. We're looking to re-engineer movement back into our lives, not make people feel bad that they have to squeeze in exercise during the already busy schedules.
So this is not going to be the podcast for marginal gains, but instead how can we empower people to simply move more. We've got a fantastic series of podcasts lined up for you on a whole host of different topics. We've also got a range of individuals that we will be interviewing during these sessions, including Russell Kane, the famous comedian, but also a serious advocate for lifestyle medicine and how it can improve your life. On the other hand, we've got people like Michele Zanini, who works with some of the best athletes in Team GB and understanding some of the insights of working with these high-performers individuals and how we can apply it to our patients.

I'll be talking to Dr Emma Lunan about long-term conditions and physical activity and how we can break down the barriers for people with symptoms and long-term conditions and engage them with physical activity. I'll be talking to Dr Charlotte Marriott about mental health and physical activity and touching on one of my favourite topics green prescribing.
0:03:11 - Callum
Followed on from that, we've got Dr Hamish Reid, a sports doctor with a special interest in motivational interview and how we use our language to inspire change in our patients, and also Hussain, Suzy and Dr Rob Lawson people who've been GPs for years, telling us about different things they've done to make small changes that have big differences.

We're here to pique your interest, shift your perspective and show you what's possible, because we know that one change leads to another and small changes lead to big things.
